Our team and your role
The Digital Health Design Center is committed to exploring how next generation therapeutic ecosystems, connected solutions, and data analytics can improve patient health while reducing the clinical, psychosocial and economic burden that is systemic throughout healthcare today.
We are looking for a UX Design Lead to define and guide the future of design, focusing on a particular digital product, while closely collaborating on design of digital products across our portfolio. You will identify and inform product strategy, envision the UX ecosystem, and inspire teams to execute that vision. Your role is also crucial for fostering effective, multi-disciplinary teams and mentoring talented team members. Your leadership and ability to evangelize the point of view of user-centered design will ensure success of our design programs.

Once here you will:
  • Lead UX design program (affiliated either with a therapeutic area or Payer and Provider experiences); a design program may have one or multiple products
  • Lead creative and holistic thinking for “your product(s)” throughout design stages (concept, prototyping, and delivery), potentially spanning multiple user types (e.g., patient, caregiver, nurse educator, payer, HCP)
  • Participate in product roadmap development with business, medical and technical counterparts
  • Lead and manage a team of UX Designers (internal and contract resources) to deliver a UX vision and that meets users’ needs, aligns with the product vision and roadmap and ultimately results in a delightful user experience
    • Facilitate input from cross-functional teams (e.g., market research, human factors, medical, regulatory, engineering) to inform design
    • Facilitate multi-stakeholder / user workshops
    • Leverage market research and customer journeys
    • Recommend direction that supports a delightful customer experience
    • Oversee development of wireframes and prototypes
  • Always advocate for end users
  • Collaborate with other Design Leads to establish common design principles, share best practices and contribute to product design beyond “your product(s)”
  • Drive strategic use of design more broadly across Lilly
  • Build strong relationships and operating norms with leaders inside and outside the core product team to efficiently implement user experiences that are cohesive, inclusive and well-informed
  • Implement culture and principles within the group, while setting new standards in executional and operational excellence
  • Potentially support multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting tight deadlines

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of experience in UX Design
  • Strong understanding of human-centered design and design thinking practices
  • Proficient in modern design applications like: Sketch, Figma, Adobe CC, etc.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies for project delivery
  • Passion for design: You have a strong point of view, but recognize the best results are when you get out of the way and let magic happen. You push boundaries and explore new territory, but also evangelize best practices
  • Team skills: You support and inspire teams through cross-functional collaboration, direction, vision and planning
  • Communication: You have an articulate point of view about design. You understand the value of design within a business context. You have demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Design leadership: strive to influence user behavior, drive engagement and elicit positive emotional response
  • 1-3 years of experience in managing or leading design teams
  • Experience leading vendors for successful delivery of project deliverables
  • Experience designing within the healthcare industry will be a plus
  • Comfortable using collaboration tools such as Slack
  • Experience with Agile methodologies for project delivery
  • Experience with mobile concepts including responsive design, responsive delivery, etc.
